![]() I know it was a very high bar but I think Eveline did a fine job! While DKC had a more atmospheric OST, DKC2 had a more catchy one! DKC3 has both types of songs and I find myself humming them a lot. I'll admit, it is the weakest of the original 3 OSTs but I do not scoff at what they accomplished. The factory levels are full of cool details in the back (I didn't even know some of them had window til my last playthrough!) The whole aesthetic of the game is amazing and the levels are accompanied with great music! The orange skyline is simply breathtaking (Nat King Cole would be proud). The background is a snow covered forest but at a certain part you see the sky turn sunset orange. Finding Koin is one thing but it takes some good ol brain power to figure out how to hit him on the back! (Sometimes it's incredibly easy though lol) While DKC2 handled DK coins pretty well, I think I prefer the puzzle aspect of it. ![]() I love the Bonus games, they're all so fun but sometimes pretty challenging. They're all very cleverly hidden and memorizing where all of them are is just insanely satisfying. ![]() They're all very interesting and new and offer new challenges never seen before! Not to mention they're all jam PACKED with secrets! All of which are very well hidden but never in a way that would make you say "Oh come on. My favourite levels include Murky Mill, Riverside Race, Ripsaw Rage, Tearway Toboggan, Tracker Barrel Trek, Ropey Rumpus, Lightning Lookout and Rocket Rush! None of them catch me off guard, they're all introduced in a safe way before thrusting some real challenge on to you. Each new mechanic is introduced very well and they're all very adaptable. The levels are absolutely amazing! Each one is more interesting than the last. I like imagining Frantic Factory from DK64 takes place in Mekanos. Mekanos shows the harm to the environment K. Lake Orangatanga has a bit of everything and is a great starting world! The Kremwood Forest has always been cool to me, especially with a giant spider lurking around (Admittedly not as intimidating as the giant spider from Lord of the Rings). Plus all the worlds in the Northern Kremisphere have their own vibe and personality! Especially the Banana Bird queen and I like thinking there's some sort of relation with the Banana fairies from DK64! The Northern Kremisphere is such a joy to explore and it feels so fun and cozy. Talking to all the bears just gets me more invested in the world than any other DKC game and that is so impressive! All the hidden banana birds, the more you get to explore with each new vehicle you get, it's just so cool! Call me a nerd but I love the lore behind the Northern Kremisphere. In DKC3, they go full RPG style and create an amazing world to explore. While the other games maps were okay and the art was always great, there wasn't much to explore and it was mostly just a way to get from point A to point B. Maybe I'm biased cause I am Canadian and the Northern Kremisphere is very clearly based on Canada but I will defend it to the ends of the earth. Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2 get SO much love and that's okay! Both are AMAZING games! But I've been playing DKC3 a lot this past week, it made me realize what an amazing game this is so let's appreciate it for a minute.
